2022 Cowra Carnival of Colours

Spring has finally sprung and to celebrate we're hosting the Cowra Carnival of Colours!

The Cowra Carnival of Colours is a celebration of all things bright and cheerful. We have entered a new season and are excited to showcase the beautiful bursts of colour in our region thanks to the Canola Fields and Cherry Blossoms.

We have teamed up with a variety of local businesses to bring you experiences that will tantalize your taste buds, seduce your senses, and connect you to Country and the beauty of nature.

Join in on the celebrations of the Cowra Carnival of Colours running from the 23rd of September till the 8th of October.


Hop on board the Lachlan Valley Railway Lounge Car (MBV) for a Sushi Train dining experience on the 23rd of September!

Tantalize your taste buds with a scrumptious 3 Course Japanese meal that is sure to please any food lover. A full range of drinks, including Japanese Sake, will also be on offer to purchase.


Bookings must be in tables of 2 or 4 so gather your group and treat yourself to an amazing evening of great food!

Following 2 years of cancellations due to the pandemic, Sakura Matsuri (Cherry Blossom Festival) wil be returning to the Cowra Japanese Garden and Cultural Centre in 2022! 

Sakura Matsuri showcases Japanese culture through a range of activities and demonstrations. With taiko drummers, sumo wrestlers, Japanese archery and sword demonstrations, origami, martial arts, singers, dancers, choir, kimono fashion parade, ikebana, tea ceremonies and more. Stall holders will have a range of food and goods on offer, and there will be activities for children.

It is a day for all the family to enjoy!

Enjoy a trip into the Cowra countryside with a visit to Canowindra to visit Rosnay Organic for a BBQ and Farm Tour!

Hear the stories from before Rosnay, to the planting of the vines and trees, to the creation of the community farm of which Rosnay is now a part. Ask any questions about how they grow organic crops, control weeds and pests without poisons, encourage biodiversity and how we make our wines, olive and fig products here on the farm.

Enjoy a sumptuous meal from resident caterer The Bush Goddess and a wine tasting in the NEW cellar door.

A bus from Cowra is available as an option extra however those wishing to utilize the bus will need to book separately through operator Ideal Tours.


Experience Cowra on a Sunday morning at the Green Thumb Markets in the Cowra Civic Square.

Come along to the Cowra Civic Centre & Civic Square just near the Cowra Peace Bell in Darling Street and purchase a delicious breakfast from a range of options including breakfast boxes, hot breakfasts, and coffee!

Enjoy some live entertainment, gourmet market stalls, local produce and select some beautiful flora and fauna to take home.

Join Cath Duncan from the The Nepean Bonsai Society for a Bonsai Master Class at the Cowra Civic Centre during the Green Thumb Markets!

Tuition is free however each participant will pay $50 for the materials for the workshops (this includes the plant, pot, soil and wire).

The Lachlan Valley Railway Lounge Car Pop Up Bar & Cafe will be at the Cowra Railway Station platform Sunday 25th September from 10.30am til 3.00pm with their famous LVR Devonshire Tea!

Mumma Cass will be serving up some delectable scones with jam & cream for just $10 with tea or coffee, or $15 with some sparkling wine!

Explore some of the best flavours the Cowra Wine Region has to offer!

Join local vigneron Jason O'Dea from Windowrie Estate as he guides you through a selection of 6 wines from the Windowrie portfolio. The tasting will include a history of wine in the region and insights into grape growing and winemaking.

Catering provided by Strawberry Hills Events and the event will be held at the Cowra Japanese Garden and Cultural Centre.

The Cowra Civic Centre are getting craft with FREE school holiday workshops where you get to create create unique lanterns that will light up the night for the Cowra Carnival of Colours Night Time Street Parade on Friday 7 October.

Working with a professional puppet maker, young people will create lanterns that reflect the many colours of the Cowra landscape including cherry blossoms and canola fields.

Join Strawberry Hills Events & S.omethinngyoulove for an afternoon of painting and sipping of local wines from whilst taking in the picturesque views of the Cowra Japanese Garden and Cultural Centre.

Included, you will have a selection of sparkling local wines and a scrumptious Grazing Table supplied by Strawberry Hills Events to enjoy. This event also includes Canvas, Brushes, Paints, Palette, Pencil, Stencil of the design, Marker and Easel. Entry to the Garden is also included.

What better way to spend a morning than connecting with First Nations Culture through art, dance and the sharing of stories!
